Koelnmesse launches the 2nd edition of ANUFOOD Brazil during the Leaders Meeting and announces agreement with Apex-Brasil

The event will take place next March in São Paulo, and it expects to have 60% more exhibition space, with over 10,000 highly-qualified visitors

With the confirmed presence of the leading companies and trade associations in the food and beverage industry, a ANUFOOD Brazil – International Trade Show Exclusively for the Food and Beverage Sector, to be held next year on March 9-11 in São Paulo, is the only exhibition in South America exclusively focused on this important industry.  A Leaders Meeting was held by the exhibition organisers to present the evolution of the event and to formally announce the agreement with Apex-Brasil.

During the event, Cassiano Facchinetti, Managing Director of Koelnmesse Brasil – organiser of ANUFOOD Brazil – emphasised that the number of participating companies has increased significantly for ANUFOOD Brazil’s second edition, and 80% of the spaces should be confirmed by the end of 2019.

The first edition of ANUFOOD Brazil, organised earlier this year, was a tremendous success! The event received 7,395 highly-qualified visitors from 39 countries, as well as from all 26 Brazilian states. For the 2020 edition, over 10,000 qualified visitors are expected. “According to a survey conducted during the event this year, the attendees are from the following segments: 53% food service, 21% distribuitors and wholesalers, 13% supermarkets, 4% importers and 9% from other areas,” Facchinetti stated. “Among those, 83% play a key role in the decision-making process, 95% are satisfied and would recommend the event and 94% are planning to visit the exhibition again in 2020. These results confirm that we are on the right track.”

ANUFOOD Brazil is the Brazilian version of Anuga, the largest exhibition in the world for the food and beverage industry, which celebrated its 100th anniversary in October during its 35th edition in Cologne, Germany. The organisers offered a similar experience for the first edition of ANUFOOD Brazil, and according to Facchinetti, the exhibition will be even bigger and better in 2020. “Currently, we have confirmed the presence of 150 exhibitors, and the pre-registration numbers for visitors are 56% higher compared to the same period in 2018.”

For next year, Facchinetti says there will be several new events and a diverse programme of value-added special projects, supported by industry associations and partners, including a strategic partnership with ABAD (Brazilian Association of Wholesalers and Distributors of Industrialized Goods), which is focused on increasing the number of visitors from that sector, a partnership with S/A Varejo magazine, which plans to invite 150 owners, presidents and directors from Brazil’s leading supermarket chains to visit the trade fair. Also, the participation of the Ministry of Agriculture (MAPA) with an institutional stand and pavilion of small producers of regional products certified for exportation, Abrasel Buyer Missions that expect to bring over 60 groups of business owners and decision-makers from restaurants and bars from all over Brazil and especially from the São Paulo countryside. ANUFOOD Brazil, following leading local and global trends, will showcase a Vegan Pavilion, supported by the Vegan Institute, which will also present the latest news from this growing segment.

Koelnmesse also confirmed a partnership with SINDAL (Syndicate of Equipment Manufacturers and Suppliers of Products, Services and Maintenance for Professional Kitchens) for the organisation of the first edition of the SINDAL Showroom of Equipment and Technology, which will showcase the latest technologies in equipment for the foodservice industry, as well as with Euromonitor, who will organise a Seminar on the latest trends and best practices in e-commerce for food and beverage retailers. The Prime Club is another initiative focused on VIP visitors and hosted buyers from the diverse channels within the food & beverage industry.

The II ANUFOOD Brazil Congress, organised in partnership with FGV Agro, will be held alongside ANUFOOD Brazil, as well as the ABIR Conference, which will focus on the most important trends, innovations and regulatory issues for the beverage industry. The next edition of the exhibition also includes the II Abrasel Meeting, ConPizza Workshop and Confectionary & Bakery Show, which are featured activities that enhance the visitor experience.

APEX-Brasil Agreement

Koelnmesse signed a collaboration agreement with Apex-Brasil (Brazilian Trade and Investment Promotion Agency). Sergio Segovia, President of Apex-Brasil, emphasised that the partnership is part of the policy created by the agency to encourage the promotion of Brazilian companies. “We are committed to increasing the visibility of the event, as well as to bring international buyers and Brazilian producers closer together.”

Regarding Apex-Brasil, Segovia stated, “We will work with our partners from the food and beverage industry and with the attendees, in general, including specialised companies and institutions from Brazil and abroad that could be contacted through our database and international network, further developing the relationship between international buyers and Brazilian producers.”

The President of Apex-Brasil recalled that agribusiness is the main focus with regard to the opening of new international markets for Brazilian manufacturers, which corresponds to 28% of the business generated. “A trade fair such as ANUFOOD provides an additional platform for bringing international buyers and our producers together.”

Considering that Koelnmesse and its partners have significant global competence in the food and beverage industry, Segovia emphasised that Apex-Brasil has supported these segments related to food, beverage and agribusiness in a very consistent and focused way throughout its 20 years of activity. “The Agency is honoured to stand side by side with a key player in the global private sector, as well as to have the opportunity to support a platform for generating international business that gradually reaches a higher number of Brazilian companies, including those that are members of associations that are partners of Apex-Brasil through Sectoral Projects,” he says.

He concludes, “Now that the agreement has been signed, we we appreciate the tremendous opportunity to showcase the strength of Brazil in the global Agribusiness sector. I am confident that our partnership will deliver excellent results.”

Industry Leadership Support

ANUFOOD Brazil also enjoys the support from the leading trade associations and institutions from the food and beverage industry. During the event, held at the FGV (Fundação Getúlio Vargas) headquarters in Sao Paulo, The Executive-President of Investe São Paulo, a state government programme, Wilson Mello, said that Brazil needed an event like ANUFOOD Brazil.  “And we will not spare any effort to make sure that the global buyers come to the exhibition.”

Igor Castro, Technical Director at ABIR (Brazilian Association of Non-Alcoholic Beverage and Soft Drink Manufacturers) emphasised that ANUFOOD Brazil is the best opportunity for the industry to “be part of the international showcase.” Luis Madi, Director of Intitutional Affairs at ITAL (Institute of Food Technology), also believes that “ANUFOOD Brazil provides the visibility that the food and beverage industry needs.”

Liege Vergili Correia, Executive Director at ABIEC (Brazilian Beef Exporters Association) pointed out that the institution has participated in ANUGA for 20 years and has and has always felt the need for a similar exhibition in Brazil. “ANUFOOD has a great potential to attract importers and to provide opportunities for doing business here (in Brazil).”

In the opinion of Rogério Oliva, Director of Commercial and Marketing Relationships at ABAD (Brazilian Association of Wholesalers and Distributors of Industrialized Goods), it will be an opportunity for the association to strengthen its relationship with its members and the exhibiting companies at ANUFOOD Brazil, as well as with the visitors of the trade fair from the most diverse sales channels for food and beverage products. Cláudio Zanão, CEO of ABIMAPI (Brazilian Association of Manufacturers of Biscuits, Pasta and Industrialized Breads & Cakes), also considers ANUFOOD Brazil to be a very business-oriented trade fair and added that “this (new business generation) is what we need at this time (in Brazil).”
